Mosque Chairman’s Opening Speech

Maqam Habib Noh, where the body of an Awliya’ Allah SWT Habib Noh Al-Habshi was laid to rest, was last repaired extensively in 1986. The current condition of the Maqam building has deteriorated due to damages from the climate and weather conditions to the building and its surrounding area, now its high time for our community, the mosque board members (MMB) together with MUIS to come together and support in the restoration of the Maqam. This will include restorations which is to be made to the Maqam facade and building infrastructure.

Maqam Habib Noh is symbolic for Muslims who understand the purpose of Ziyarah, intercession and taking blessings from pious people who are also known as the beloved of Allah SWT. It is also one of the places that is often visited not just by Muslims but also from people of other faiths.

Alhamdulillah, on behalf of Mosque and Maqam, we are granted permission or an ‘approved license’ to seek funds for the restoration of the Maqam and its surroundings’ infrastructure.

Today also happens to coincide with the remembrance day of the Haul of Habib Noh Al-Habshi, which is on 14th Rabiulawal. Habib Noh passed away on 14th Rabiulawal 1283H, coinciding with 27July 1866 of the Gregorian calendar.

With that, to seek the Barakah of this blessed occasion, we are launching our fundraising efforts tonight.

There will be a special donation box placed outside the mosque for the congregation to contribute in raising funds for this project. We hope that the congregation will be together with us to achieve the collection of funds for this project. We also hope that those who are here today will inform your family members and friends who are not present and sincerely convey the message for the contribution of funds.

There are also other ways that you can help us to meet our objectives. You can visit our mosque Facebook page and website on how you can contribute to this cause. You can also reach out to our Mosque office directly to make a contribution.

We also would like to express our appreciation to all the religious leaders and to those who are involved in helping us on their platform for this fundraising initiative.

Allow me to quote the translation of a hadith where Rasulullah SAW said:
“If a person dies, then his deeds are cut off except for three things (namely), Sadaqah Jariyah, knowledge that is used, and the prayer of a pious child” (HR Muslim).

As I close my speech, the Mosque Board members and staffs of Haji Muhd Salleh Mosque@Maqam Habib Noh including myself would like to convey a million thanks for your presence and contribution and may those who are present in this blessed event receive the blessings of Allah SWT for attending in commemorating one of his beloved soul.

May Allah Azzawajjal have mercy and love for us as how we love for His Awliya’. Amin Ya Rabbal ‘Alamin.

Wabillahhi taufiq walhidayah, wassalamua’laikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
